29 October 2026 - Three Generations of Christmas Trees: Our Family Story

Our story starts with one man, a small pitch in his hometown of Luton and a lot more customers than he expected. More than 50 years later, three generations of our family are still in the Christmas tree trade, and we still choose our trees the way he taught us.

How Did It All Begin?

My granddad started selling Christmas trees from a pitch in Luton, Bedfordshire. He quickly realised the demand was far bigger than he had imagined, so he went looking for the right kind of tree to sell. He found it in the Nordmann Fir, which became his best seller, and before long he was known locally as the Christmas tree man. Now in his late seventies, he is still selling trees, including to some of the same families he served all those years ago.

What Did He Pass On?

The most important thing he taught my dad, and my dad taught me, is that you cannot fake a good tree. You learn what fresh looks, feels and smells like over years of hard work, not from a course or a book. That knowledge is something money cannot buy, and it is why we still pick and collect our trees ourselves.

How Has the Business Changed?

My wife and I have been slowly bringing the business into the online age. We ran a pitch in Bedford for several years, where we watched it grow with loyal customers returning every Christmas. A move to Cambridgeshire then let us offer delivery, and today we bring trees to homes and businesses in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire, with selected routes further afield.

What Has Stayed the Same?

  • Freshness first. Throughout December we go to our growers every day to collect fresh-cut trees, so they reach you as little as two days after cutting.
  • The Nordmann Fir. Our Premium Nordmann Fir is still the tree my granddad built his name on.
  • Value and quality together. We would rather work a little harder to find the right balance than cut corners.
  • Every tree finds a home. Trees with a few quirks in their shape go into The Unloved Tree 5ft- 7ft (please leave a note on preferred size).

Why Does It Matter to Us?

Christmas trees have been part of our lives since we were children. There is real satisfaction in knowing that on a cold December morning, when a family gathers together, our tree is at the heart of their home. That is what makes the early mornings and late nights worth it.

We also support East Anglian Air Ambulance, with a percentage of every tree we sell going to this vital local service.
