Potted / Rooted Christmas Tree Nordmann 3ft+

A rooted Nordmann Fir offers something a cut Christmas tree cannot: the possibility of life beyond the festive season.

Our Potted / Rooted Christmas Tree Nordmann 3ft+ is supplied as a living tree with its roots contained in the pot. Its compact size makes it easy to use indoors during Christmas, while careful handling gives you the option of moving it outside afterwards and potentially planting it in the garden.

It has the familiar soft green foliage of Nordmann Fir and is particularly useful for smaller homes, flats, conservatories, offices or anyone who specifically wants a living Christmas tree.

This Tree Is Alive, So Treat It Differently

A rooted Christmas tree should not be treated in the same way as a cut Nordmann Fir.

Instead of a sawn trunk sitting in a water reservoir, this tree relies on its roots and growing medium. The compost should be checked regularly so the root ball does not completely dry out, while overwatering should also be avoided.

From December Indoors to Life Outside

Before Bringing It Inside

Choose the position in advance. A cooler spot away from strong direct heat is preferable to placing a living tree immediately beside a radiator, fire or other heat source.

While It Is Indoors

Check the moisture in the pot regularly and keep the tree appropriately watered. Because it is compact, it can be moved more easily than our larger Christmas trees if its position needs adjusting.

When Christmas Is Over

The tree can potentially be returned outdoors. Moving a living tree between warm indoor conditions and winter weather should be handled with care rather than treated as an instant transition.

If You Want to Plant It

Choose a suitable outdoor position with enough room for a fir tree to develop over time. Soil, drainage, weather and the condition of the root system will all influence how successfully it establishes.

Can You Definitely Replant It?

No living Christmas tree can be guaranteed to establish successfully after Christmas.

Keeping the roots intact gives the tree the potential to continue growing, but survival depends on how it is cared for indoors, the health of the root system and the conditions it encounters once outside.

If planting it afterwards is important to you, keeping indoor conditions sensible and caring for it as a living plant throughout Christmas gives it the best opportunity.

Why Choose a 3ft+ Rooted Tree?

Its smaller stature makes this an unusually flexible real Christmas tree. It can work where a full-size tree would be inconvenient, while still giving you natural foliage rather than an artificial alternative.

It can be used as the main tree in a compact room, an additional tree elsewhere in the house, or a festive feature in an office or reception space.

Keep the Decorations in Proportion

A smaller living tree does not need dozens of decorations. A short string of suitable lights and a carefully chosen collection of baubles can leave more of the natural foliage visible.

Add Decoration Family Name or Message for a personalised detail, browse Tree Decorations for more options, or add Elf in Your Tree for an extra bit of Christmas fun with an eligible order.

Fresh Holly Wreaths can extend the natural greenery to the front door without asking the little tree to do all the work itself.

Rooted Tree or Fresh-Cut Nordmann Fir?

Choose fresh-cut if you want a larger choice of heights and a traditional indoor tree that will remain in a water-holding stand through Christmas.

Our Premium Nordman Fir range includes fresh-cut options beginning with Premium Nordman Fir 3ft-4ft, while Rooted 4ft-5ft offers a larger rooted alternative.
